The funniest photo of the whole cruise

September 12, 2010

It’s a Noah’s-ark type rain in Ketchikan, just pouring buckets. Our excursion is leaving at 9 a.m., and we won’t get back until just before the ship left. So we get up early and go ashore at 7:30 to do some souvenir shopping. I decide to run us up to Creek Street, which is the street where the brothels were during the Gold Rush days. This is Creek Street in the background, with my poor mother being posed for a photo. Our Frog Togs rain ponchos ae a godsend, though at this point it was raining so hard that Mom pulls the hood completely over her face!

You obviously can’t tell, but the creek is loaded with salmon headed upstream. There are so many of them that you could literally almost have crossed the creek on their backs.
